4 of 5 Viewsonic PJ551D Sunday, November 02, 2008 Michael Capilli from Philadelphia, PA
Good Value. Easy setup out of the box. Good projector for less than %600.
Cons - no carrying case. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 good little projector Friday, August 01, 2008 A Customer from nj
I bought this mostly to do sales presentations on, with some movie viewing and theatrical projection in mind as well. It projects very bright pictures, and so far has worked out well for me.
There is not very much of a zoom however. I haven't used it much for higher resolution purposes yet.
I actually chose this one because of the free lamp offer. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Balanced Solution Wednesday, July 16, 2008 A Customer from Flagstaff, Arizona
After much research, the PJ551D Viewsonic projector provided the best balance of price and performance. For less than $600 shipped, you get a great picture, 3-year warranty, and an extra bulb valued at around $250. That's very hard to beat. Though, it is not a high-end projector, with multiple inputs.
For my first projector, I am very happy with the picture projected on our bare, tan walls. It still renders great color and I believe would be even better with a high-contrast screen. For ease of use, it can't be beat. Simply plug it in and turn it on. The keystone correction works great from the small card-size remote control. With the extra bulb on hand, I am running the projector in True Color mode which shortens the bulb life, but provides a brighter more color-rich picture for movies. I have yet to notice the fan noise even with the projector 4 feet away. It simply doesn't get too loud. It does, however, get hot, but that is common to projectors. Viewsonic has one of the best warranty's in the projector market, and they continue to produce quality products with attention to picture quality and ease of use.
I highly recommend this projector to anyone interested in bypassing the 60" Plasma craze with portability and scalability. Just imagine surfing the net on a 12' screen with sharp, easily read text - that's impressive! Was this review helpful?
