5 of 5 verynice product Saturday, May 17, 2008 Chris from New York
I always attended meeting and needed omething to capture my notes. all devices that I did find before required special paper and were bulky, thi one is just perfect, its easy to use and it pretty good in capturing what I write, so no more pad to keep, you can have them all at your disposal on small USB stick as a jpeg's or converted to text.
things that I do not like about it is that the ink cartrige when I inserted it I cant take it out for some reason, will have to figure this out when I run out of it. Second clips are not strong enough and I had issue while at ome seminar attending while that device was dropping from my pad quite a lot of times... other than that I love it very very much. 4 of 5 Does what it claims Monday, April 28, 2008 CB from Cumming, GA
After daily use for about a month I have to say that I have come to depend on this product. It works as stated, just be sure the orientation is setup correctly (very good user manual on the website). After 20+ years I no longer have to keep up with paper notes! If you attend lots of meetings and have trouble organizing and referring back to notes this is for you. The reason for four stars instead of five is I think some sort of clip-on device that would allow use of your own pen would be a better design. Also a better way to attach the reader to a note pad would be helpful. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Pen Goes to Sleep While Using It Tuesday, April 22, 2008 A Customer from Whitney, TX
This would be a good product if it didn't go to sleep without notice while you are in a meeeting using it. I was disappointed in meetings to notice that the unit went to sleep and stopped capturing notes part way through the meeting, failing to capture half my notes. If you discover this, you can turn it back on, but then it advances the page plus you lost the notes you took while it was alseep. Their is no user's manual -- just a sparse quick start manual, so there is no guidance on how to fix this problem. Was this review helpful?

My rating is:
Value: 3; This pen won't improve your productivity much than using keyboard plus scanning your handwriting notes.

Performance: 5; Did what it says to do, to the most part.

Ease of use: 3; Particularly awkward to locate the cursor using the pen.

Overall satisfaction: 4

I'm always looking for a handwriting digitization tool. Tablet laptop is one option, but adding weight to your daily pack and not versatile. Digital pad is versatile, but again adding at least one pound to your backpack, not to mention the size of the pad itself.

I had high hope for IOGear's digital pen: light weight and digitizing your scribble; hoping it'll be a great compliment to OneNote in Microsoft Office and on the go.

However, I've been quite disappointed to find out two things that make me return the product:

1) the pen has to work together with the receiver to locate on screen where you want to write. If the receiver is not perfectly aligned horizontal, your writing would also tilt. To write where you want to write, the technology is not there yet, comparing to a Tablet PC.

2) the ink cartridge is not sustainable: tiny. They say you can easily find cartridge replacement in stores. I couldn't. This drastically reduce the value of this pen as a portable digitizing product. It comes with a stylus of the same size of that ink cartage. But then again, as a tablet device, it performs poorly.

My dream product (hopefully I could see one in three years)
A normal size pen that use NORMAL ink cartridge you can find in ANY office supply stores. Embedded with memory chips like MicroSD or USB or something, the pen, and only the pen, memorizes your handwriting. Without using ink, it works just as easily as a NORMAL mouse.
